Why 10 Hours of OSHA

Every student at VoTechWorks holds an OSHA 10 card before working unsupervised. Here is why it is ten hours and not one.

The Focus Four. Falls, struck-by, caught-in/between, and electrocution kill most construction workers. Two hours each.

Then. Hazard communication (the chemical label and the safety data sheet), PPE, health hazards, and the worker's rights: to know, to refuse imminent danger, to report without retaliation.

Why a card. Employers and general contractors require it at the gate; some states require it by law. It is the first credential on the résumé and the cheapest.

Why it matters here. Every gallery in this museum has a cautions band — glasses always, then the trade's own rules — because the museum is a school and the school's first lesson is coming home.

Renew. The card does not expire, but OSHA 30 is the next step for anyone who will supervise.
